I have noticed that on my web interface on my X10 Music db quite a few tracks from various artists appear within other albums ie, Chris Rea mixed in with the Carpenters. I cant seem to work out why or find a solution, it appears that the tag allocation system has fouled up when ripping or even copying from a usb stick. Some advice please.

Why don't you sort by albums & check if the tracks are in the correct album?
This will help you to determine why the tracks have moves to another album (various artist type).
Sometimes if a common entity appears in other albums or the metadata aren't verified or is inaccurate you could have mixups.
I don't use the x10 anymore, so i can't check but generally the analogy are quite similar on the Pro x100 (easier to manage).
I definitely think it is a metadata issue...
