Can anyone tell me the right setup of the X30, the pc and the Nas so any device can see, communicate and access the others?
In the X30 I activated Samba server (but what to write as 'host name' and 'workgroup'?), Upnp and Ftp.
What to do in the pc?
In the network i see the X30 as "TANGO3" (!!!) and i'm asked a Userid and password to get in and access the HDD attached via usb to the x30. But what ui and pw?
Nothing is really easy with networks!!!!

You are complicating things: - sorry i don't have x30 but reading the manual it seems to have the same function as the x10 :)
1. SAMBA best for linking devices with computer Linux, Mac or PC.
If you type host name or IP address of X10/X30 on your PC, it will open the X10/X30 MUSIC DB.
Or just open NETWORK in windows PC & you will see the X10/ X30 (Music DB).
Eg. (If all devices are on the same network at home or anywhere...)
RUN--->\\x10 or \\192.....(IP of X10 or X30 ...)

OR

From PC: Network--->X10

see:
http://www.cocktailaudio.co.uk/Forum/vi ... =624#p3651

see:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=842

2. With FTP you can do whatever you like....use a guess account or create something like: User: admin, pw: X30X30...
Get many free programs like fileziller (client not server, X30 is the server) & put the password you created on the X30.

See:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=693&start=10&hilit=ftp

3. Upnp, if you enable on X10/X30 & make sure your computer or tablet etc is ON too.
You can stream music from phone to X30 or X30 to phone or mix or whatever you like.
You can use free Apps etc....
See:
Via PC:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=699#p4485

Via Device:
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=705

4. You can make the folder on your "TANGO3" shareable & play via X30 or copy across etc

Boot router & it will all show up, lots of stuff to explore.
Have fun

MusicLaScala,
thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, i already tried ti do everything you suggest me.
I see in my network, from the pc, the cocktail x30, with that strange name of TANGO3.
But when i try to get in, to browse in the hdd connected to the x30, i am asked a u.id and p.w..
The strange thing is that until some days ago, the x30 appeared in my net as x30 and i could get in without ui/pw.
i don't understand what can be happened.

Do you have a screen shot?
I think it's the permission on your computer Admin settings perhaps?
Also you could use guest with ftp on your computer.
(dont think you have tried all)
Thanks

Only have X10, but protocol is the same for most media players.
If the NAS & PC are on the same network the X10/X30 will see it.
If you enable X10/X30 SMB (SAMBA), Just leave the default names of the X30/X10.
Eg CocktailAudio & X30 - workgroup is irrelevant.

For UPNP protocol, you need to enable it on the PC & then X10/X30 will see it & stream.
The Apps also work the same way.
With PC you can make your music folder public/share & X10/X30 will see it in "NET".
Even if you use "Cocktail Audio Media render/server" on your PC, it will read the songs on your X10/X30.

Do a factory reset & start with the default names, don't change anything.
Just enable SMB, UPNP & webserver if you want to use the web-interface.
//X30 - web-gui
\\X30 - access x30 via SMB..

The problem might be in the permission & discovery:

If you are on WIN 7, test the network sharing settings:

Goto Control Panel (& View by Category) & Under Netwrok & Internet ('View network status and tasks')

See: Page 4-9

The problem remains the same: I can't get in the X30 from my pc, via network.
I am always asked a network u.id and password.
I have a NAS that asks me the same thing, but i can access the NAS with th u.id and pw of the pc.
Please, HELP ME! I can't manage my X30!!!!

Yes test with the computer 1st & turn OFF password protected sharing - simple.
If creating a public/share, enable everyone or guest, this will not ask 4 a pw.
Check your settings Rick

IN the page of network sharing options, i don't have the choice to turn on or off the password!!!
It's windows 7, but i don't have that option.
