I have been trying for a year to connect my X10 to the BF11.

The initial problem was caused by my internet connection being provided by a wi-fi dongle which obviously is unable to provide a router style connection to other devices. This has now been solved by the use of a Dovado ProAC which connects all devices.

Following all the advice given by support the BF11 is now at least paired with the router assuming the host device name listing includes the device as there is no recognisable name shown!!

When we go to the next step of using the Wi-Fi Music app the next problem emerges. The app has been downloaded to two different Samsung Nexus devices and both demonstrate the same problems which are:-

1. the opening screen is gray not blue as advertised
2. the BF11 rendered does not appear on the list (the X10 mediarenderer does)
3. the action buttons for firmware upgrade, pairing etc are grayed out

After switching off and rebooting all devices the above options all changed to the expected screen views and an attempt was made to try and run the latest firmware upgrade - this ran to 10% before freezing and locking the tablet.

The last support desk message was that everything was working on their devices - possibly so but the message at this end is that the app and the speaker still do not work.

Now there are a few possible issues: -

1. the app does not work on a Nexus 10
2. the app will not work without the firmware upgrade - in which case update the app and re-release it
3. the BF11 is broken and unable to communicate

I have tried several other apps e.g. bubble upnp without success which apart from the wi-fi music app issues seems to point to something wrong at the BF11 side if it cannot contacted as the renderer.

Overall, I am not sure how many X10 users have a BF11 or use the app but any advice or assistance would be appreciated before I kick the speaker down the field.

Cheers Peter

Simple solution...all you need is to pair the bf11 with your network (which you have done).
Then any device on the network will show, else just refresh it by rebooting (OFF & ON) the router & launch the app again.
Remember that the router a "star" network (back at university again :) ) & must be able to view all devices else any app would be useless.
Make sure the N 10 tablet is on the same network & not using the data service.
Have you checked the app settings or the tablet permission ?

Also any upnp/dlna/airplay app can be used.
1. i can send music from any app on the network
2. send from my pc or server to the bf11
3. send from many devices to the bf11

I did ask a question here:

Happy New Year 2018 !!!

Hi QE

Thanks for reply.

I have run through your suggestions which may/may not confirm router/BF 11 link as checking off IP addresses without a device name is not conclusive.

The main problem is still the app. I am only getting greyed out screens which means no functionality. See attached screen shots. I have tried other apps but none are picking up the BF 11 as a renderer. If the app worked the pairing could be done through that means - the only time it came on was to suggest switching to AP mode to download firmware which then promptly locked the tablet.

Thanks

Peter

@Ballyglass, AP mode (private) is not online so no firmware can be downloaded.
Have your tried resetting the BF11?
You could try pairing in AP mode (wifi indicator green) to Station mode (wifi indicator white).
You should get a solid wifi white if you have paired with the network/router.
Also if the app loads, try playing something even on the tablet & the try switching the renderer from tab to bf11.

Do you know the webGui pairing is faster than using the app?
Just connect both the controller and bf11 to ap mode and access via the default IP and then connect back to the wifi. Then use the app or any software to access the library /renderer. Once you are in ap mode the IP 192.168.0.1 quite straightforward.
It is in the user guide page 7-8 ( Method 3 (Using the Web-GUI pairing option)).

Pair with the web-GUI:

1. Set bf11 to wifi green
2. Connect a device with a browser to the same ap mode (bf11 network)
3. Enter the default ip 192.168.0.1 (into a browser of the device used)
4. Check/change language menu on the left to "English"
5. Choose your wifi & enter password or network key (submit)
6. Change the BF11 to wifi white (will turn to white indicator after a few seconds)
7. Connect browser device (smartphone or tablet) to home wifi
8. Devices will all be seen by the network now
9. You can use any dlna, upnp, airplay type apps to control the music & wireless speaker.

Thanks guys for the suggestions.

I have been running the GUI version with the support desk. The BF11 is not holding the connection so looking at other issues including possible device fault. Will post any further developments

Make sure to stay on firmware 1.1.2 not the 1.0.8.
The trick is if you can't select the renderer; switch off the BF11 & turn it on again from the mains plug.
The router will pickup the speaker.

@Ballyglass
1. If the app is "greyed out" you should still be able to play any music file on the app or any compatible app.
Then you just touch the icon at the top right to send to any device.
The idea is not check if the app can work on your tablet 1st.
Eg. Access internet radio, play any station & touch the renderer - tablet or phone (it will play on the phone).
Sometimes select renderer then play station or music.

2. The firmware only shows if the app can see the BF11 as the software is on the speaker.
Sometimes it will also be displayed on web-GUI pairing via the IP 192.168.0.1 in RED text.

The main thing is to pair it then it will work with any app, there are many app -airplay, dlna, upnp etc
Android App "DsCAST Music" is free and good, there are many free apps.
With DsCAST it is very sensitive to network disruptions, just touch the playing song if your router cuts off.
