My x10 is networked with my PCs. I can move files from the x10 database to folders on my PC but cannot change anything on the x10 from my PC e.g. renaming files or moving files from my PC to the x10 database. When I try to do this I get an error message 'remove write protection' which I assume is referring to the x10 hard drive. Does any body know how to do this?

How are you accessing the files via the PC?
Have you tried to enable read-write via the PC on the folder (Cocktail Audio)?

Thanks Stane
I'm accessing the x10 via router network. I've tried disable read only on the X10 HDD. It goes through the motions of disabling this read only property on the HDD and its subfolders but after the process is completed, the HDD remains read only. The other error message I get when trying to move music file from my PC to the X10 database is 'you need permission to perform this action'. Their is no guidance as to how to achieve such a permission.

You are you probably using SMB?
Which files are you accessing - Musicdb or Local..?
You could dump the files into the Hdd1.
